Kim Kardashian has confessed that she felt like she had “Stockholm syndrome” during her relationship with Kanye West.
In the Season 7 premiere of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian openly discussed the emotional challenges she faced during her seven-year marriage to Kanye West, describing her experiences as akin to “Stockholm syndrome.” She explained that she often felt compelled to protect and help him, even after their separation, and would sometimes think, “I should’ve stuck it out” or “I could’ve helped.” However, she emphasized that she no longer feels that sense of responsibility, stating, “this was the first time I didn’t feel that responsibility personally”
Kardashian also addressed the difficulties of co-parenting their four children North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm highlighting the challenges of shielding them from West’s erratic behavior. She noted that at least one of their children had become aware of their father’s behavior. Despite public claims from West that she is keeping the children from him, Kardashian firmly denied these accusations, stating that he has never contacted her to see them and that they live at the same address
Reflecting on the end of their marriage, Kardashian described it as “toxic” and emotionally unpredictable, worsened by West’s mental health struggles. She detailed incidents that led to her breaking point, such as West’s public airing of private family matters and erratic behavior like giving away their cars during a manic episode. Despite the challenges, she emphasized that leaving was more difficult than staying, particularly with children involved, but ultimately necessary for her well-being and ability to parent effectively
In the same interview, Kardashian revealed that her stress-induced psoriasis, which she suffered during their marriage, had returned, citing West’s recent controversial behavior as a factor. She expressed that their current dynamic is “so f——g sad,” underscoring the emotional toll their separation continues to have on her and their family.
