Dolly Parton’s sister Frida clarifies the truth about the country star’s illness: “I Didn’t Mean to Scare Anyone”

Freida Parton previously asked that fans pray for her sister’s recovery after the country star, 79, postponed shows amid health issues

Frida, 68, wrote on social media on Tuesday evening, October 7: “I want to make something clear. I didn’t mean to cause alarm or make Dolly’s condition seem more serious when I asked for prayers.”

She added that Dolly, 79, had been “feeling a bit unwell lately” and that her prayer request was just “a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister.” She also thanked fans for their support, noting that their love “is really making a difference.”

Earlier Tuesday, Frida wrote: “I’ve been up all night praying for my sister Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I felt compelled to ask all of her fans to be prayer warriors with me.” She added a heart emoji, saying: “She is strong and loved, and with all the prayers being sent for her, I know in my heart she will be okay. God bless, Sister Dolly. We all love you!”

Dolly postponed her Las Vegas residency last week due to an undisclosed illness, moving the shows to nearly a year later to focus on her health.

Dolly wrote on Instagram: “As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and the doctors have told me I need to have several procedures. As I joked with them, it looks like it’s time for my 100,000th checkup, even though it’s not my regular checkup at my plastic surgeon!”

She added: “Seriously, because of this, I won’t be able to rehearse and prepare for the show I want you to see, and the show you deserve. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be the best I can be for you.”

Dolly reassured fans that she’s not retiring, saying: “God hasn’t decided I’m going to stop yet. But I think He’s telling me to slow down for now so I’m ready for some more big adventures with all of you.”

The iconic singer was scheduled to begin performing limited shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in December.
