Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner Sue Ray J for Defamation, Accuse Him of ‘Reckless Disregard for the Truth’

Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner have filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J after he made public claims suggesting they were the subjects of a federal investigation.

The lawsuit, filed by attorney Alex Spiro and confirmed on Wednesday, Oct. 1, marks the first time either Kardashian, 44, or Jenner, 69, has taken legal action over defamation.

“Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before nor have they been distracted by noise but this false and serious allegation left no choice,” Spiro said in a statement.

The filing points to two recent incidents. Earlier this year, Ray J appeared in TMZ’s Tubi documentary United States vs. Sean Combs, where he remarked, “If you told me the Kardashians was being charged for racketeering, I might believe it.” Then, on a Sept. 24 livestream, he allegedly told millions of followers that a federal racketeering investigation was underway involving the Kardashians.

Spiro called those remarks “the most malicious defamatory conduct,” stressing that no such investigation exists. In court documents, he accused Ray J of engaging in a “sustained campaign of harassment and defamation” against Kardashian and Jenner for more than two decades, arguing that the statements were presented as fact, not opinion.

“Ray J’s public statements are blatantly false,” the filing reads. “No law enforcement agency has initiated any criminal proceedings or investigations related to racketeering charges against Ms. Kardashian or Ms. Jenner; and no credible evidence whatsoever supports these inflammatory allegations.”

The suit further claims that Ray J’s reliance on his own assertions, without verification, shows a “fundamental disregard for truth and a willful intent to harm” the reputations of Kardashian and Jenner.

Kardashian and Ray J’s past has long been marked by public disputes since their breakup in 2005. Their 2007 sex tape thrust them into headlines, and in 2013, Ray J released the track I Hit It First, widely seen as a jab at Kardashian’s relationship with then-husband Kanye West. Over the years, he has also been accused of making claims about their past sex life, which Kardashian has denied.

In 2018, after a tabloid reported that Ray J had shared intimate details about their relationship, Kardashian called him a “pathological liar.” Ray J later denied the report, saying he had moved on and was focused on his family.

The new lawsuit suggests the conflict between the former couple is far from over, this time escalating into a courtroom battle.
