Bad Bunny Pays Tribute to Puerto Rico in 2026 Super Bowl Apple Music Halftime Show with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin

Bad Bunny made history as the first musician to deliver a Super Bowl Apple Music Halftime Show performance entirely in Spanish.

The 31-year-old rapper, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, headlined the 2026 musical event at the Big Game on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., where he performed a medley of songs.

To kick off his performance, which mirrored aspects of his No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency, he sang “Tití me preguntó” before transitioning to “Yo Perreo Sola.” After moving from the sugar cane field to barber shop and liquor store, Bad Bunny performed atop of La Casita, which featured surprise celebrity appearances by Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Jessica Alba, Karol G, Young Miko, and more.

Bad Bunny also sang a snippet of “Voy a Llevarte Pa’ PR.” He then crash landed into La Casita and kicked open the door before heading into a sea of dancers enjoying a block party to perform “EoO.”

Throughout the set, he also used snippets of Tego Calderon’s “Pa que retozen,” Don Omar‘s “Dale don dale” and Daddy Yankee‘s “Gasolina.”

Bad Bunny brought out surprises: Lady Gaga appeared on the stage in a blue dress to perform a salsa rendition of her hit “Die with a Smile,” before Bad Bunny launched into “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” and “NUEVAYoL.” At one point in the performance, a couple was featured getting married, and Bad Bunny even gave his Grammy to a child watching him on TV.

Ricky Martin then appeared, performing Bad Bunny’s “LO QUE LE PASÓ A HAWAii.”

Bad Bunny closed out the show performing “El Apagón,” “CAFé CON RON” and DtMF.” Near the show’s finale, he said, “God Bless America, God Bless Puerto Rico, God Bless Mexico” and continued listing Latin countries as he turned the field into a parade with fireworks.

Behind him, was a billboard that featured the words, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”

Fresh off multiple Grammy wins — including Album of the Year for Debí Tirar Más Fotos — earlier this month, Bad Bunny spoke at the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Press Conference on Thursday, Feb. 5 and joked that viewers “only have to worry about dance” and don’t need to learn Spanish to enjoy his performance.

“I just want people to have fun. It’s gonna be a huge party and what people can always expect from me,” he said. “Of course a lot of my culture, but I really don’t want to give any spoilers.”

In September 2025, the NFL announced Bad Bunny would be the halftime show performer. Shortly before the news was revealed, the sports organization shared a social media teaser.

Soon after, Bad Bunny shared an Instagram post, where he could be seen sitting on a goalpost on a beach amid a colorful sunset. Text over the clip teased the upcoming halftime show performance, sponsored by Apple Music, as the camera panned out.

In an X post that same day, he wrote, “I’ve been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I’ll do just one date in the United States” — a reference to his decision to skip touring the country for his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour, due to President Donald Trump‘s use of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) for immigration crackdown.

Upon the announcement of Bad Bunny’s halftime show, Jay-Z, whose company Roc Nation entered a partnership with the NFL in 2019, made the final call regarding who takes the stage at the big game’s halftime show and shared a statement about this year’s performance.

“What Benito has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage,” the rapper, 56, said at the time.

Bad Bunny added: “What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

Before Bad Bunny took the stage, Green Day represented their hometown of Santa Clara, Calif., by kicking off the opening ceremony, Charlie Puth sang the national anthem, Brandi Carlile performed “America the Beautiful” and Coco Jones sang “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

The most recent halftime show performer was Kendrick Lamar, whose set included guest appearances from SZA, Samuel L. Jackson, Serena Williams and Mustard.

In recent years, other halftime performers have included Usher in 2024 and Rihanna in 2023. Lamar, 38, also appeared for a headlining set in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J. Blige.
