Barack Obama will visit Dublin for a special interview at the 3Arena in September.
TV historian David Olusoga will interview the 63-year-old, who became the first black US president when he entered office in 2009, on Wednesday, September 24, at London’s The O2.
Journalist Fintan O’Toole will then interview him on Friday, September 26 at Dublin’s 3Arena.

The event, titled An Evening with President Barack Obama, sees the former president speak about his experience in the role, and the future of the US.
Announcing the news, Stuart Galbraith, Chief Executive of Kilimanjaro, and Alex Fane, Chief Executive of Fane Group, the groups organising the events, said in a statement: “We are incredibly honoured to bring President Obama to the UK and Ireland for these truly special events.”
“His message of unity and progress resonates deeply, and we anticipate an evening that will inspire and empower all who attend.”
Since leaving office, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have partnered with Netflix to create documentaries, series, and features for the streaming service through their Higher Ground Productions organisation.
For his contributions to the Netflix documentary series Our Great National Parks, he was awarded the Best Narrator Emmy in 2022.
His audiobook readings of two of his books, Dreams from My Father and The Audacity of Hope, have earned him Grammy Awards in the past.
Alongside artist Bruce Springsteen, the former president of Hawaii co-hosted a podcast in 2021 titled Renegades: Born in the USA.
