Exes Emma Roberts & Evan Peters Reunite for ‘American Horror Story’ Announcement

Emma Roberts and Evan Peters reunited onstage this week for a rare joint appearance at Disney’s Advertising Upfront in New York City, where they helped announce a new cast addition for American Horror Story Season 13. They were joined by fellow AHS veterans Sarah Paulson, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Angela Bassett, but notably kept a noticeable physical distance from each other while standing onstage.

Their reunion drew attention because of their complicated past. The two first met in 2012 while filming Adult World and soon began dating. By early 2013, they were publicly a couple, even appearing together on red carpets. However, their relationship became controversial in July 2013 when Roberts was arrested in Montreal following an alleged domestic violence incident involving Peters, who reportedly suffered a bloody nose. She was released shortly after, and no charges were pressed, with reps at the time calling it an “unfortunate incident and misunderstanding.”

Despite the incident, the pair continued their relationship and even got engaged in January 2014. They also worked together extensively on American Horror Story, appearing in multiple seasons including Coven, Freak Show, Cult, and Apocalypse. Peters later spoke positively about working alongside Roberts, describing her as a “best friend” on set who made long shoots easier.

Their engagement ultimately ended in 2015, with reports saying they had “grown apart,” though they continued an on-and-off relationship for several more years before splitting for good in 2019. Roberts later reflected publicly that breakups are difficult and that “no one knows the real story” behind their relationship, also expressing frustration over public scrutiny.

Since then, Roberts has moved on with actor Cody John, and the couple announced their engagement in 2024. Peters has also reportedly dated since their split.

This week’s event marked their first major public reunion in years, tied to their shared history on American Horror Story, and stood out mainly because of the visible distance they kept despite appearing together onstage again.
