Amazon announced on Monday, May 18, that it is introducing a new feature on Alexa+ that allows users to generate AI-created podcasts on virtually any topic within minutes.
According to the company’s statement, the new feature—called “Alexa Podcasts”—creates conversational, customized podcast episodes powered by artificial intelligence. These episodes can cover a wide range of subjects, including ancient history, sports, architecture, baking, and more.
The AI-generated episodes are presented as being hosted by synthetic voices designed to simulate real podcast hosts.
“Creating custom audio content is now effortless,” Amazon said in its announcement. “No documents to upload, no prep work needed—just tell Alexa what topic you’re curious about, and it does the rest in minutes.”

Amazon added that the podcasts draw from a broad base of information sources, including major news organizations such as TIME, the Associated Press, Reuters, and Business Insider, as well as more than 200 local newspapers across the United States.
After a user requests an episode, the system provides an outline of what the AI hosts plan to discuss. Users can also adjust the length and direction of the episode before it is generated.
Once completed, the personalized podcast can be played through the Alexa app or compatible Echo devices and is saved in the app’s “Music and More” section.
The feature is currently available to U.S. users with access to Alexa+, Amazon’s upgraded AI-powered version of its voice assistant.
The launch is part of Amazon’s broader effort to evolve Alexa from a traditional voice assistant into a more advanced AI platform. Earlier this month, the company also introduced “Alexa Shopping,” an AI-powered tool designed to assist with online purchases.
