Meet Dunk (Peter Claffey) and Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), the two new “heroes” of our next Westeros-set tale.
The next story in the world of Westeros is coming with A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Audiences will be introduced to new heroes: Dunk (played by Peter Claffey) and Egg (Dexter Saul Ansell). Following the War of the Five Kings in Game of Thrones and the Tagarian Civil War in House of the Dragon, this spinoff follows the adventures of knight-errant Ser Duncan “Dunk” Tall and his young servant Egg.
The trailer premiered during a panel discussion at the New York Comic Con, featuring co-creator and showrunner Ira Parker, writer and executive producer George R.R. Martin, and the two main cast. Unlike his previous works, this series focuses on a simple story of chivalry and loyalty, far removed from kings, queens, dragons, and giant direwolves.
Based on Martin’s beloved novels Dunk and Egg The Feisty Knight, The Loyal Sword, and The Dark Knight the first season follows the events of the first novel. After Dunk buries his late mentor, Ser Arlan of Penytree (Danny Webb), he enters a tournament for the prize money. Along the way, he meets Aig, a lively young boy who insists on becoming his servant. In the Ashord Meadow cycle, Dunk meets a diverse cast of characters, including members of House Targaryen, whose actions will resonate throughout Westeros.

Unlike its predecessors, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will not feature an opening prologue for the series. Parker explained that this reflects Dunk’s character: “The original prologues to Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon were epic and grand, just like their stories. Dunk is simple and straightforward, and the series reflects that.”
The first season consists of six episodes and will premiere on HBO Max next January.
